APPLICANT ADVISORIES

USE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE LINES. Applicants are encouraged to use this web page to locate general and more detailed information regarding New Jersey licensure and certification. We want to reserve the customer service phone lines for inquiries by individuals who have previously submitted an online or paper application for certification.

SUBMISSION ALERT FOR ONLINE APPLICANTS. Please do not submit both an online application and a paper application for the same credential! Doing so will delay your application review.

CREDENTIAL EVALUATION REQUESTED BEFORE SEPTEMBER 1, 2005. If you have asked for an evaluation of your credentials (as distinct from an application for a certification), please note that due to the numbers of actual applications we cannot do any evaluations until September 2005. However, you may convert your evaluation request to an application by payment of the fee balance and by submitting supporting documents; if your original evaluation request was submitted before May 1, 2005, your revised request will be treated as an expedited application.

CREDENTIAL EVALUATION REQUESTED AFTER SEPTEMBER 1, 2005. Please note that due to the increasing number of certification applications, the Office of Licensure and Credentials will not accept further requests for evaluation of your credentials (as distinct from applications for licenses) after September 1, 2005. The Office will make available in September updated guidelines for certification endorsements.

New licensing regulations, N.J.A.C. 6A:9, were adopted by the New Jersey State Board of Education, effective January 20, 2004. Below are links to key parts of New Jersey's certification system.

Please view this entire page to become familiar with the resources available to you.

Effective November 1, 2004, the online Teacher Certification Information System (TCIS) is available to the public.

If you obtained your certification prior to 1988, it is likely that your date of birth is not in the current database. Therefore, you will not be able to register as a new user at the present time.
